Adebanjo leads Obidient campaign in Ibadan, mobilises support for Obi at Adamasingba Stadium
Leader of the pan Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, on Wednesday,led the obedient movement to mobilise support for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Adebanjo speaking to the crowd at the Adamasingba Stadium in Yoruba language, urged Oyo voters not to discriminate between ethnic identities but go for the best presidential candidate.
According to Adebanjo, “to critics saying this one is Igbo, that one is Yoruba, the Presidency of Nigeria is not about Igbo or Yoruba but the whole of Nigeria.” He stated that he has no hatred for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Obi expressed “sincere respects” to late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and other respected Yoruba leaders. He noted that Adebanjo stands for equity and fairness.
Obi had stated, “what Adebanjo and Afenifere is standing for today is what will make the future of Nigeria; they are standing for equity, they are standing for fairness. Justice, equity and fairness should be the foundation of which we will build a united Nigeria.”
