Anambra 2021: APC receives six defecting APGA lawmakers
The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, received six members of the Anambra State House of Assembly, who defected from the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state. They defection reflected the height of the All Progressives Congress (APC) political recruitment towards the Anambra State governorship election.
The Chairman of the APC Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, receiving the defecting APGA lawmakers, urgently held a strategic meeting with them behind closed doors, and thereafter, presented them with the APC flag.
The six APGA lawmakers in the Anambra State House of Assembly include, Nonso Okafor, representing Nnewi North; Timothy Ifedioramma, representing Njikoka 1; Cater D. N Umeoduagu, representing Aguata 1; Lawrence Ezeudu, representing Dumekofia; Arthur Chiekwu, representing Idemmih North, and Edward Ibuzo, representing Onisha North 2.
The APC Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee Chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni, at the reception of the defecting APGA lawmakers into the APC on Tuesday evening in Abuja, acquainted the defectors of the APC determination to win the Anambra governorship election. He noted the APC consciousness in engaging critical stakeholders in Anambra State and seeking stronger alliances.
Governor Buni had stated: “Mere looking at what is happening, especially, now that so many prominent and serving state lawmakers have started joining, the grassroots is moving and Anambra people are moving to the APC.”
Governor Hope Uzodinma was at the defection event in Abuja, the Imo governor stated that the southeast people have woken up, noting that the zone is committed to national politics and desires to be part and parcel of Nigeria.
Uzodinma was confident that the APC will win the governorship election in Anambra State.
The defecting APGA lawmakers had expressed the All Progressives Congress is Nigeria’s chosen political party, promising to mobilize support in the run-up to the November 6 governorship elections in Anambra to ensure victory for the APC candidate, Andy Uba.
The decamping rituals was carried out at Imo State Governor’s Lodge, Abuja, and had in attendance Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, including the Osun, Kogi and Imo states governors.
