Anambra 2021: Appeal Court clears Valentine Ozigbo PDP candidate
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Friday cleared Valentine Ozigbo as the validly nominated candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State.
The President of the Court of Appeal, Honorable Justice Monica Dongban- Mensem, leading a three-man panel of justices in their judgement of an appeal by Ozigbo on Friday upheld the appeal and declared Ozigbo substantive PDP candidate in Anambra.
The court admitted that the appeal of Ozigbo seeking to upturn judgement of the Awka High Court, which restrained him from being the PDP candidate in the Anambra governorship election has merit and was, therefore, allowed.
The appeal court, therefore, declared the judgement of the Awka High Court null and void.
The court also awarded the sum of N10 million in favor of Ozigbo.
The Appeal Court, thereafter, directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish the names of Ozigbo and his running mate as the duly elected candidates of the PDP in the forthcoming election.
