Another Nollywood star slumps, dies
Nigeria’s entertainment industry has lost another illustrious member to the cold hands of death. This time, it was star actor Ernest Asuzu who died Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
Confirming her husband’s sudden death, his wife, Jennifer Asuzu, disclosed that he fainted and never woke up.
The president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, also confirmed the veteran actor’s death.
“Yes, Ernest Asuzu is dead. I am trying to reach his wife to get the full details. I will get back to you,” Rollas said.
“Asuzu,” as one report noted, “began his acting career in the ’90s and rose to prominence after he starred in the 1997 Nollywood classic, ‘Rituals’.
“He was the toast of Nollywood until his career nosedived after he came down with a stroke in 2015 and it affected his speech. He was also bedridden for three years.”
The remains of the departed star are on the way to the South-East, where he hailed from, for burial.
