APC, PDP trade blames over political violence in Gombe
Political violence has been resumed in the preparations for the Saturday governorship election in Gombe State after Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo’s convoy was attacked by thugs at the weekend, leading to the two leading political parties, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, accusing each other of trying to compromise security in order to rig the elections in the state.
The APC in Gombe accused the PDP of trying to compromise security ahead of the governorship election.
The PDP, on the other hand, said the accusation is contrary to the narrative of the true picture of events in the state.
The governor was defeated in senatorial election while President Buhari also won Gombe State in the presidential election.
The governorship and house of assembly elections are great challenges for all stakeholders in the state. While APC is struggling to sustain the victory of the first polls, the PDP is trying to prove that the state belongs to the party.
