An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday remanded one Emmanuel Akintan in prison custody over the alleged murder of his friend, Tunde Biobaku.
Chief Magistrate B.O. Ope-Agbe gave the order at the arraignment of Akintan who allegedly murdered Biobaku by stabbing him with a broken bottle on his left hand.
Ope-Agbe ordered that the accused be remanded in Ikoyi prison pending receipt of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The accused, 23, was arraigned on a charge of murder.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Jimoh Iseghede, told the court that the offence was committed on Dec. 9, 2015, at about 6.00 p.m. at Egan-Igando, a Lagos suburb.
