Army boss warns Fulani, Plateau Chiefs to hold their youths

The Commander of the Special Military Task Force code named Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Ali has warned the stakeholders and community leaders of Fulani and Irigwe youths in Plateau State to warn their youths to stay away from fermenting trouble.

Gen. Ali ordered the community leaders to hand over irate youths whom are known for trouble shooters to the taskforce.

He issued the warning on Sunday in Jos during on the spot assessment of the face off between the Irigwe youths and the Fulani in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Our correspondent reports that fracas broke out between the Irigwe and the Fulani on Saturday night leaving residents scampering for safety.

The military taskforce however in a statement signed by its information officer, Ishaku Takwa said troops deployed to the area thwarted what would have turned out to be a major crisis and blood bath.

“Troops deployed to the area thwarted what would have been a deadly clash between the Irigwe youths and Fulani herders at Rafin Bauna and Ijebu Miango community in Bassa local government area”, the statement said.

The army boss while commending the troops for their timely intervention warned the Community leaders and stakeholders of both the Fulani and Irigwe Community to call their youths to order. He cautioned the irate youths on the consequence of taking law in to their hands, the statement also reads in part.
