Balarabe Musa hails court verdict on re-registration of PRP, others
Former Governor of defunct Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, on Thursday said that the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) would take part in local government elections in the country.
Musa said this while fielding questions from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the Federal High Court judgment in Abuja that the National Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) should re-instate the PRP and two other political parties de-listed last year.
Musa said that the party was happy with the court verdict and would utilise the opportunity to return to the political scene.
He said that the party would meet after Christmas to review its plans to enable it to participate in local government polls in some states across the country.
The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday voided the de-registration of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Peoples Progressive Party (PPP) and Better Nigeria Progressive Party (BNPP).
Delivering judgment, Justice Ademola held that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which carried out the action, lacked the power to do so.
Ademola said INEC could not de-register the three political parties except in accordance with the provisions of the constitution and not any other law.
