Bandits kill boy, injure worshippers in Kaduna mosque attack
A deadly attack by armed bandits on a mosque during Maghrib prayers in Namama community, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has left a young boy dead and several worshippers injured.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday evening when the attackers stormed the mosque while worshippers were observing their evening prayers amid heavy rainfall and opened fire indiscriminately on those inside.
The attack was disclosed on Monday in a post on X by security analyst Bakatsine, who said the assailants struck without warning, targeting civilians engaged in worship.
According to him, the assault claimed the life of a young boy identified as Adamu, while several other worshippers sustained injuries of varying severity. The injured victims were reportedly rushed to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

He added that prayers were ongoing for the recovery of those who sustained injuries in the attack.
The incident has sparked renewed concern over persistent insecurity in parts of Kaduna State, where rural communities have continued to experience repeated attacks by armed groups targeting civilians in homes, farms, and places of worship.
Bakatsine also raised alarm over the growing toll of such violence, questioning the continued vulnerability of civilians in religious spaces.
“How many more civilians must lose their lives in places of worship before effective measures are taken to protect vulnerable communities?” he asked.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from Kaduna State authorities or security agencies regarding the attack.
The latest incident adds to a series of violent episodes in northern Nigeria, intensifying calls for stronger security presence and more effective protection of vulnerable communities across the region.
