Baptist Church: Abductors demand rice, oil, seasoning, salt before ransom
Abductors of about 60 worshippers in Kaduna State are demanding bags of rice and groundnut oil to feed the victims—or else they will starve.
The gunmen invaded Emmanuel Baptist Church located in Kakau Daji in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna a week ago.
The demand for foodstuff is different from the amount they demand as ransom. Their emphasis is on food, though
“We were told they called on Thursday night demanding for five bags of rice, four gallons of groundnut oil, Maggi carton and salt that failure to provide these items it means the victims will not eat,” the Daily Trust quoted a source.
The State State Commissioner Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan confirmed the abduction in a statement a day after the incident, saying the bandits also killed one worshipper during the attack.
Since governments across the northwest started staunching the supplies to the bandits, hunger has become a big deal.
