Desperate Kogi bandit loads AK-47 bullets into dane gun, wields charms
The Kogi State Police Command has arrested Umaru Muhammed, a criminal and member of a gang terrorizing the Irunda-Isanlu, neighbourhood of the state.
The 25-year-old and his gang have kidnapped and robbed in the area over times—until Muhammed’s arrest Nov. 3.
According to a statement on Friday morning by the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) DSP William Ovye Aya, the arrest was made possible following a report received from a citizen that some criminals were sighted around the Isanlu axis.
“The Police operatives promptly swung into action, trailed the suspects to Koro Village, a boundary between Kogi and Kwara States where Umaru Muhammed was arrested, while other members of the gang escaped,” he said.
Items recovered from the suspect are one locally made gun using AK-47 rifle live ammunition, two AK-47 live ammunition, one single pump action barrel gun, one machete, and dangerous local charms.
The suspect has since confessed to the crime and will soon be arraigned in court on completion of the investigation.
And CP Idrisu Dauda Dabban has emphaised commitment to ensuring adequate security of life and property in synergy with other security agencies in the State.
