Buhari breaks silence on defection rumour
Former President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his unwavering commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), affirming that he remains a loyal member of the ruling party and will continue to uphold and promote its ideals.
In a statement released on his verified Facebook page by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari emphasized his strong political allegiance, making it clear that there should be no doubts about where he stands.
“I am an APC member, and I like to be addressed as such. I will try to popularize the party by all means,” the former president declared.
Buhari expressed deep gratitude to the APC for the support he received before and during his two-term presidency, describing the trust placed in him by the party as the highest honor of his political career.

He assured that he would remain steadfast in his support for the APC and committed to its continued growth.
While he did not address specific political issues or figures currently shaping discussions within the party, his statement comes at a time when the APC is grappling with internal debates and leadership disputes.
His reaffirmation of loyalty is seen as an attempt to maintain party unity and encourage cohesion among its members.
The former president also commended the founding fathers of the APC for their sacrifices in establishing a strong political platform rooted in constitutional democracy. He emphasized the need to protect and nurture these foundational values to ensure the party’s continued relevance and success in governance.
Buhari’s remarks serve as a reminder of his enduring influence within the APC, even after leaving office, and signal his intent to remain actively engaged in its affairs.
His commitment to promoting the party’s ideals underscores his belief in the APC as a vehicle for national progress and democratic consolidation.
