Businessman jailed 6 months for receiving stolen sim card.
An Upper Area Court sitting in Kasuwan Nama, Jos on Tuesday, sentenced 25-year-old businessman, Paul Yilkom to five months imprisonment for receiving a stolen sim card.
The judge, Irene Pati sentenced Yilkom after he pleaded guilty receiving stolen item.
Pati, however, gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N30,000.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported at the ‘C’ Division Police station in Jos pn Dec. 6,2021 by Mr Suleiman Murtaka, the complainant.
The prosecutor said that a defendant, Suleiman Umar , stole the complainant’s phone worth N210, 000 along with the sim card and gave the sim card to the convict.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 59 and 302 of the Plateau State Penal Code Law.
