Council Poll: Derin Phillips flag-off campaign rally, targets AI for Ikoyi/Obalende LCDA advancement
One of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship hopefuls for Ikoyi Obalende LCDA in the July 12 council election, Dr. Derin Phillips has unveiled his plans to take development of the area a notch higher.
Speaking during the flag-off of his campaign rally held at the Obalende under bridge roundabout, the youthful but vibrant Derin Phillips hinted that he is bringing on the table impactful governance targeted at engineering digital development in the LCDA.
He also harped on his five point agenda tagged ‘FAITH’. F-Financing and Investment,A-Access to Social Welfare,I-Innovation in Education and Technology,T-Transparency in Governance and H-Health and Environment, adding that these will be the basis of development in Ikoyi/Obalende LCDA once he assumes office as Chairman.

The Chairmanship aspirant-Derin Phillips a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on LSDPC matters, declared that Artificial Intelligence (AI) has a cutting edge, with which he plans to further develop Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA hidden potentials.
“I believe we should do 2025 things in 2025 and that is focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI), there is an unmatched potential which we have to tap into as not only Africans but Nigerians and lagosians, which can transform our locality, building digital centres in unique ways creating employment opportunities for all.

He added that being a full fledged Lagosian imbued with the needed qualities to ensure well rounded development in Ikoyi/Obalende LCDA greater days lies ahead for the people, while urging the people to stand by Derin (Duro ti Derin).
“This is my home I was born and bread here, but more importantly we need the best of the best in the race.

“There is nobody else that is going to fix our community except from us and if you have people of substance, who have trained for this position, people who have been exposed to different facets of business, whether from entertainment to Agric to real estate, with insight that is a bit higher, only such a person is worthy of an important LCDA as Ikoyi Obalende because this is one of the most important LCDAs in Nigeria.”
According to him, he had learnt the ropes of grassroots governance since the time his mother Chief Teju Phillips was a commissioner for Culture and Tourism during the tenure of President Bola Tinubu as Lagos State Governor.
“Being a creative person I will create solutions to complex problems we have in this community.
“People of Ikoyi Obalende LCDA should expect dynamism,creativity, excellence and being a visionary person, I have trained for this position for 26 years, when my mother was a commissioner for culture and tourism.”
The well attended campaign rally recorded a huge success as youths of the area from various wards comport themselves well till the very end, a popular afro-pop artiste Adekunle Temitope (Small Doctor) was also on hand to serenade party faithful.
