Court clears Okorocha from EFCC’s corruption suit
A Federal Capital Territory High Court on Friday cleared former Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State from the corruption suit filed against him by by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The court, dismissing the case, declared that the EFCC’s charges of fraud and abuse of office against the former Imo governor constituted an abuse of judicial process.
The presiding judge of the FCT High Court, Justice Yusuf Halilu, in his judgement, noted that the EFCC had filed similar suit against Okorocha at the Federal High Court, which was won by the Imo governor in December 2022. The Judge, therefore, dismissed the suit.
