Court grants PDP’s request to inspect election materials in Katsina
The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Katsina State has granted the request of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its governorship candidate, Senator Yakubu Lado, to access and inspect all election materials used in the March 9, 2019 governorship election in the state.
Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice H. Kereng, granted the order following an ex-parte motion argued on their behalf by their counsel, Ricky Tarfa.
The four players in the ex-parte motion moved is an order directing the third respondent, INEC, to allow the petitioners inspect the originals of all the forms, voters’ register for Katsina State, register of permanent voter cards, certified true copies of same and all other electoral forms and other relevant documents in the custody of INEC.
Commenting on the development, a member of the petitioner’s legal team, Uyi Igunma said, it is a good omen for their clients.
He said the granting of all the prayers will enable the team to speed up the petition processes once served on the respondents.
Respondents in the petition before the governorship election tribunal is, the governor-elect Aminu Masari, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
