Cross River lawmakers exchange punches over speaker’s impeachment
Members of the Cross River State House of Assembly on Wednesday, March 22, engaged in a free-for-all following the impeachment of the Speaker Elvert Ayambem.
Drama started as the sitting rounded up, with members exchanging punches over the mace.
The fisticuffs ended the sitting which saw 17 members out of 25 impeach Ayambem on allegation of financial misappropriation.
The motion for Ayambem’s impeachment was moved by Effiom Ekarika, representing Calabar South 1 state constituency, and seconded by Hon. Omang Charles Omang, representing Bekwarra state constituency.
