Davido gives N250m appeal fund donations to orphanage homes
A Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, known as Davido, gave out all the fund donated to him by friends when he earlier in the week posted an appeal for help in his Instagram, to orphanage homes.
Davido in a statement on Saturday on his verified Instagram handle, indicated that he added N50 million to the N200 million he realized as donations, to raise the N250 million, which he declared will be given to charity. According to him: “this money will all go as donations to orphanages across Nigeria.”
Davido appointed a five-man disbursement committee, which include three professors and one pastor, to supervise the sharing of the fund.
Davido emphasized that his goal is to make the donation a yearly tradition in celebration of his birthday and to give back to those in need.
Davido in a video on his Instagram page, expressed appreciation to everyone that contributed to the cause. He revealed how the idea of the donation started like a causal conversion.
The music star appealed to his fans and friends to continue to support him on the mission of giving back to society.
Davido had on his Instagram page on Wednesday, cried out for help from his friends towards his 29th Birthday on November 21.
He demanded his friends and fans to raise N1 million for him, noting that he has always been in a position of lifting others and now he wanted people to return the favour.
In the first 10 minutes of the appeal, throwing the challenge on his Insta stories, Davido realized N7 million; then threw the Joker, that the goal was N100 million; achieving that; he brokered the game that the goal was N200 million. Millions were rolling in at intervals and he eventually got to N200 million.
