Deal directly with farmers, AFAN tells FG.
All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Osun chapter Chairman, Alhaji Raheem Adeniji, has called on the Federal Government to eliminate the use of intermediaries in dealing with farmers in Osogbo recently..
Adeniji said government should meet farmers association to explain its plans for farmers, especially with regard to the role of farming in the diversification of the economy.
He stressed that the Federal Government should invite farmers association to a roundtable and not channels their programmes through consultants because consultants will not direct the benefits to real farmers; rather they will siphon the funds. The AFAN chairman however called for government’s financial support for farmers to aid their activities.
Adeniji added that the FG should also invite farmers from all the states and tell them its programmes and allow farmers to make suggestions on how it will work, as he applaud the government plan to empower the youth through farming was possible but they should be provided land for farming.
