Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State on Thursday abandoned Godwin Obaseki at the swearing in of the newly appointed commissioners. The 11  commissioners and two special advisers were assigned portfolios at the event by Governor Obaseki.

The commissioners and their portfolios are as follows: Joseph Eboigbe – Commissioner for Finance, Prof. Obehi Akoria – Commissioner for Health, Mrs. Otse Momoh-Omorogbe – Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe – Commissioner for Education, Isoken Omo – Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr. Moses Agbukor – Water Resources, Ethan Uzamere – Mining, Gas and Oil, Maria Edeko – Social Development and Gender, Monday Osaigbovo – Local Government, Andrew Emwanta – Communication and Orientation, and Oluwole Iyamu – Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.

The party leaders that shunned the swearing in of the commissioners by Governor Obaseki were identified as original PDP members who were provoked by the governor because of his ill-treatment of the party leaders after they did everything humanly possible to cover him from shame when he was rebuked and rejected by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State for the governorship election.

The original PDP leaders in Edo State have been steadfast and united in defending and protecting the PDP heritage in the state since the years of being in opposition.

They were also displeased with the lopsided political appointments made by the governor.

The PDP State Chairman in Edo, Dr. Anthony Aziegbemi, and members of the state executive were absent at the swearing in; no senator, House of representees members, or PDP leaders from Local Government Areas attended the ceremony.
