Edo to develop entertainment industry for job creation, says SSA
From EBEN ENASCO KINGSLEY, Benin City
THE Senior Special Adviser on Media to the Edo State governor, Honourable Curtis Ugbo, has canvassed that government should exploit the job opportunities available in the entertainment industry to create jobs for the unemployed youths in the state.
The governor’s aide was speaking at the unveiling of the entertainers’ association of Edo State in Benin City.
He posited that, the Edo state government under the leadership of Comrade Adams Oshiomole has made arrangements to meet the yearnings of the association, adding that, to the best of his understanding, the body has submitted a useful document to the state chief executive and he has made some commitments on a number of issues including exploiting the entertainment industry to create jobs for the idle hands in the society.
Ugbo noted that the prevailing economic reality of the nation calls for innovative ideas to create jobs and one way the state government plans to do this is to empower the entertainment sector with a view to creating jobs for all interested individuals who want to make a career in it.
“The time to look inward for another avenue for job creation is now; instead of depending on oil as a mainstay of the economy,” he reiterated.
Ugbo rated the administration of Governor Oshiomole 75% in service delivery to the people of Edo state, pointing out that by the end of his tenure his rating may have climbed to 100%.
