Ember months: TRACE warns truck drivers against repairing vehicles on highways

 The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), has warned articulated truck drivers against repairing vehicles on highways to avoid mishaps during the ember months.
The Mowe-Ibafo Divisional Commander of TRACE, Mr Olusola Ojuoro, issued the warning in an interview on Wednesday in Ota, Ogun.
Ojuoro said the warning had become necessary to prevent vehicles from ramming into trucks being repaired on the road during the ember months.
“Repairing trucks on the road won’t be tolerated as it posses more danger to the other road users.
“Such vehicles should be towed off the highway to avoid their drivers being arrested or sanctioned by the TRACE personnel,” he said.
Ojuoro advised motorists to exercise patience and adhere to traffic regulations as some drivers had increased their daily trips ahead of Christmas.
He added that there was need for caution as market women would also be eager to make more profits ahead of Christmas.
Ojuoro enjoined motorists to reduce speed as construction work was still ongoing across the state, especially on Ibadan Expressway, to prevent unnecessary loss of life.
“We also urged them to check their vehicles by ensuring that they have functional headlamps, wipers, brake system as the rainy season is still on,” he said.
