Foster mum tears boy with razor over allegation of petty theft
Shade Adelowo, 31, claimed she didn’t know what came upon her when she tore Kehinde Ojo skin with a razor blade because she suspected the boy stole her N3000.
Ojo is the son of a neighbor who reported the case.
According to the PRO of the Ogun state police command, Ojo’s mother usually kept the boy in care of Adelowo—just as she did on Sunday when the incident took place at Oke Aro, a border town between Lagos and Ogun.
Upon the report, the DPO Agbado division, CSP Kehinde Kuranga detailed his detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.
Adelowo further claimed that she has been taken care of the boy and his twin brother for some time now, and that what happened on Sunday was devil’s handiwork.
In a statement by PRO Abimbola Oyeyemi, preliminary investigation revealed that the mother of the victim has been abandoned by her husband who left her with three children.
“The woman has been engaging in menial job to take care of the three children, and whenever she is going out for work, she will take the children to the suspect who happened to be her neighbor,” the statement read in part.
“She stated further that it was a thing of surprise for her when she saw what the suspect did to her son, because she has been very good to her in the past.”
The victim has been taken to hospital for medical treatment and he is responding to treatment.
CP Lanre Bankole has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to anti human trafficking and child labour unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
