Turkish football powerhouse Galatasaray has reaffirmed its ambition to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen on a permanent basis ahead of next season, with a top club official suggesting that “just details” remain to finalize the deal.

Osimhen, 26, has been a standout performer since joining the Istanbul club on loan from Napoli last summer, following an unsuccessful attempt to secure a permanent move away from the Italian giants.

He has adapted seamlessly to life in Turkey, scoring 22 goals and providing five assists in 26 Süper Lig appearances this season. The Super Eagles forward has also continued his fine form in the Turkish Cup as Galatasaray pushes for a domestic double.

Despite growing speculation linking the former African Footballer of the Year to a big-money transfer to the English Premier League, Galatasaray’s General Secretary, Eray Yazgan, has hinted that a permanent deal is still a strong possibility.

“First of all, let’s all enjoy watching a player like Victor Osimhen in the Super League this year,” Yazgan told HT Spor. “Then, if the conditions are right for both our club and the player, it can happen. This is not the subject of today. Our sole concentration right now—Victor Osimhen and all the other players’—is to complete the season with two trophies. The rest is just details.”

Osimhen’s loan spell is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, with a reported €75 million (£63.2 million) buyout clause in his Napoli contract. However, his prolific form has put him firmly on the radar of several European heavyweights.

In related news, former France international and Premier League legend William Gallas has backed Osimhen to make a major impact in English football. Speaking to Prime Casino via GiveMeSport, Gallas praised the Nigeria’s physical attributes and intelligence on the pitch.

“I think Victor Osimhen can become a star in the Premier League, he has the right profile,” Gallas said. “He can stretch play and stretch the backlines. Another attacker can run into the space he makes, and he could be useful for any club in the Premier League.”

Gallas acknowledged that while adaptation might be a challenge, Osimhen has the potential to thrive with time—especially at a club like Manchester United.

“If we talk about Manchester United, from where they are now, they don’t need to win the league immediately. They’re looking to be in the top four or five, so maybe they can give Osimhen the time he needs.”

With Galatasaray determined to retain their star striker and Premier League clubs circling, Osimhen’s future is set to be one of the most talked-about transfer stories in the coming months.
