Gas tanker accident claims five lives in Osun State
A tragic gas tanker accident on Thursday, September 12, claimed the lives of five individuals in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The incident occurred along the Ife/Ibadan Expressway when a gas tanker collided with a commercial bus.
According to the Osun State Fire Service, the accident resulted in the deaths of two men, two women, and a toddler.
Rescue teams worked tirelessly to extricate the victims from the wreckage, but unfortunately, the five individuals did not survive.
Their remains have been deposited at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital morgue.
The Osun State Fire Service and other emergency responders arrived at the scene promptly after the collision.

The tanker, carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), had swerved off the road and into a ditch, posing significant risks due to the flammable nature of the cargo.
The Director of Osun State Fire Service, Mr. Ismail Olaniyi, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended his condolences to the affected families and the Ile-Ife community.
He emphasized the importance of road safety and urged drivers to exercise caution to prevent such tragic accidents.
