Gov. Ambode seeks succor in Waterways to end gridlock

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has identified water transport as the only sustainable solution to the incessant traffic gridlock bedeviling the state.
The governor, during the first annual stakeholders forum organized by the Lagos State Waterways Authority [LASWA], promised to develop water transport in order to lighten the suffering of motorists.
He said the water transport is a critical part that the government would develop to meet the international standard. ‘’in line with my administration’s vision to ensure a safe, secured and prosperous Lagos state, there is need for the establishment of appropriate standard and regulations in line with international best practices towards the much needed implementation of water transport in Lagos’’ he said.
The Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure, Ade Akinsanya, while speaking, said this promise is coming at a time that the state is facing a critical challenge on how to improve on the various transport system in the state in order to alleviate the suffering of the teeming populace.
