Group rejects N50m to hold protest against former Gov. Lalong
A group under the aegis of Middle Belt Youth Congress of Nigeria has said it rejected a whopping some of N50 million to hold a protest against the immediate past Governor of the State, Simon Lalong.
President of the group Comrade Solomon Ndam alleged that those behind the protest move are some prominent Plateau citizens who do not want Lalong to be considered given any ministerial position.
Ndam said the prominent Plateau politicians who approached him for the protest are an ex minister and a former governor of the State.
“Their aim is to discredit former governor Lalong before President Bola Tinubu, so that he will not be considered for any appointment”, Ndam told our correspondent on Tuesday in Jos.
According to him: “The planned protest is aimed at discrediting Lalong, whom we know has done well as a governor during his time.
“We can tell of the many projects he executed across the 17 local government areas of the State.
“Despite the fact that Lalong was the Director General Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation, he was still committed to delivering good governance to the people of Plateau State.
“I have conscience not to betray the Governor for delivering the dividend of democracy to his people.
“There are political enemies working round the clock to make sure that Lalong’s image is dent before President Tinubu, but they will not succeed because the Governor is a man of the people.
“I remain committed to the promotion of democracy and good governance in the interest of the State and the Country at large”, he said.
