Gunmen strike again in Kwara, kill monarch, abduct 3 others
Unidentified gunmen on Thursday night, invaded Koro community, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, killed the community’s monarch, Olukoro of Koro, General Segun Aremu, (rtd) and abducted his wife, alongside two others.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who confirmed the incident, condemned the killing of the Olukoro of Koro, describing it as reckless, shocking and abominable.
He charged the security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators, free the spouse and others taken away, and bring the perpetrators to book.
“We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity,” the Governor said, adding: “My profound condolences go to the people of Koro.”

“Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always,” he said in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, in Ilorin on Thursday night.
An impeccable source in the state police command in Ilorin who confirmed the development said that the police operatives have commenced investigation, just as search and rescue operation has been launched for the abducted victims.
The source also disclosed that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area has been deployed to the palace of the late monarch.
Koro community in Kwara State, is a neighbouring town of Irele/Oke, Ako/Ipao/Oke Aiyedun and Ikole of Ekiti State.
The Ekiti communities are where three monarchs were attacked recently and two were killed by gunmen, while one escaped.
