Housewife, daughter docked for allegedly stripping, beating up woman
A housewife and daughter, who allegedly stripped and beat up a woman in Itire, were on Friday docked in a Surulere Chief Magistrate Court in Lagos for allegedly stripping and beating up a woman.
Omowunmi Adejare; 58 and her 15-year-old daughter whose addresses were not given, are charged with conspiracy, assault and breach of public peace.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offence on Nov. 13, along Kabiesi St., Itire, Surulere, Lagos.
Ekhueorohan alleged that mother and daughter attacked Mrs Mariam Rasaq.
The police said the defendants stripped and beating up the complainant over a matter the police had resolved at the station.
He explained that the mother and daughter by their conduct, caused a breach of peace by creating a scene on the street, which caused fear to the inhabitants.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 168 (1) (d), 172 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 (Revised).
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs M. I. Dan-Oni, admitted the duo to bail in the sum of N50,000 each, with one responsible surety each in like sum.
She adjourned the matter until Dec. 9 for substantive trial.
