Jonathan, IBB absent at Council of State meeting in Villa
President Muhammadu Buhari presided over a Council of State meeting onside the Villa on Thursday, and all except former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Sheu Shagari, and Ibrahim Babangida were absent
The Council comprises all living ex-presidents, incumbent Senate president, and past chief justices of Nigeria. All state governors are members too.
But at the meeting which began at 11 am were former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd.) and Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd.)m and V.P Yemi Osinbajo.
The governors include those of Sokoto, Delta, Adamawa, Imo, Benue, Lagos, Nasarawa, Abia, Bauchi, Jigawa, Kebbi, Plateau, Kano, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Ekiti, Zamfara, Ogun, Niger and Ebonyi States.
Present were also CJNs Mohammed Uwais, Idris Kutigi and Aloma Muktar are also in attendance.
Senate President Bukola Saraki was also there.
Obasanjo and Babangida recently criticised Buhari openly, but it is not certain yet if Babangida’s absence is the carry-over of the media war.
The Force headquarters and DSS rattled Babangoda’s spolesman Kassim Afegbua said to have maligned Buhari in his press statement disioned by a second one reportedly originating from his boss.
