Just in: Court issues fresh directives on detained Emefiele
Justice Hamza Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has ordered the Department of State Services (DSS) to charge the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Godwin Emefiele to court within one week or release him.
Emefiele’s counsel, Joseph Dawodu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) said the application for bail would be processed while hoping it would be granted.

Recalls that moments after President Bola Tinubu announced the suspension of Emefiele as CBN governor on Friday on June 9, 2023, there were reports that operatives of the DSS had arrested him.
After a series of back and forth, DSS on Saturday said Emefiele was in its custody for “some investigative reasons”.
The secret police accused Emefiele of terrorism financing and economic crimes.
