Kidnappers set free mother of Super Eagles star Samuel Kalu
Police has announced that the mother of Super Eagles and Bordeaux winger Samuel Kalu has regained her freedom after she was held captive for about a week, National Daily gathered.
Police PRO of the Abia State Police Command informed newsmen of the latest development.
Police spokesman Godfrey Ogbona disclosed, “She was released around midnight (2300 GMT) of Monday and she has been reunited with her people.
“Circumstances surrounding her release has not been disclosed to me for now.
“But we are still investigating the incident in a bid towards ensuring that those who carried out the act are arrested and brought to book.”
It is believed a ransom was paid to secure the freedom of Ozuruonye Juliet Kalu, who was kidnapped Wednesday by unknown gunmen in the southeastern Nigerian town of Aba while driving with some of her children.
Media reports earlier today suggested an initial ransom of three million Naira was paid, but the kidnappers wanted more.
