Kwara Security Network launch faces uncertainty as Igboho alleges entry ban

The planned inauguration of the Iru Ekun Security Network in Kwara State has been thrown into uncertainty after Yoruba nation activist and founder of the security outfit, Chief Sunday Adeyemi, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, alleged that he was prevented from entering the state by the state government.

The launch of the security initiative had been scheduled to take place on Tuesday at the Omo Ibile Igbomina House in Ganmo, Kwara State, but the event may no longer hold following the development.

Speaking to Kwara Updates on Monday night, Sunday Igboho claimed that Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq stopped him from coming into the state.

According to the report, Igboho briefly stated, “Your governor has stopped me from coming.”

The claim was further corroborated by his Personal Assistant during an exclusive telephone interview with the news platform.

The aide said Igboho would no longer be attending the planned event because the governor had allegedly restricted his entry into Kwara State.

According to the assistant, the decision forced the cancellation of the activist’s trip despite earlier arrangements for the launch of the Iru Ekun Security Network.

During the phone conversation, Sunday Igboho was reportedly heard speaking angrily in Yoruba in the background, saying, “Governor yin ni ki n ma wa,” which translates to “Your governor said I must not come.”

The Iru Ekun Security Network is one of the regional security initiatives being promoted to strengthen community safety and complement existing security structures in areas affected by criminal activities.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Government had not issued any official statement responding to Igboho’s allegation or clarifying whether any directive was given to prevent his visit to the state.

Similarly, it remained unclear whether the planned launch of the security outfit had been formally postponed or cancelled.

The development is expected to generate public interest, particularly amid ongoing discussions on community-based security initiatives and the roles of non-state actors in addressing insecurity across parts of the country.

Efforts to obtain an official reaction from the Kwara State Government were unsuccessful as of press time. The state authorities are yet to confirm or deny the allegation made by Sunday Igboho.
