This surge in travel demand led to increased airport traffic, as the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) anticipated screening 17 million people nationwide, an 8% increase from last year’s Labor Day travel.
Drivers enjoyed a reprieve from high gas prices, with average prices dropping more than 10% compared to the previous year.
This provided some financial relief for travelers and boosted road trip plans.

Cities and towns across the country held vibrant parades to celebrate Labor Day, a tradition that dates back to an 1882 parade in New York City involving 10,000 workers.
The holiday was officially established in 1894 when President Grover Cleveland signed the Labor Day Act.
Overall, Labor Day weekend was a time for celebration, relaxation, and reflection on the contributions of American workers.
