Lynchpin of Jan 1 killing in Benue arrested
The 40-year-old ringleader of the Jan. 1 killings by Fulani herdsmen in Benue has been arrested by the Operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team.
Alhaji Laggi was arrested along with Mallam Muminini Abdullahi, Muhammed Adamu and Ibrahim Sule—all his accomplices—were busted at Tunga , Nasarawa, according to the state’s police command.
The gang was also responsible for the brutal murder of some policemen in the state.
All the suspects have confessed to the January bloodshed that took 73 lives in two communities in the state.
Fulani herdsmen in the state went on a killing spree that lasted for weeks before Prsident
Muhammadu Buhari asked IGP Ibrahim Idris to relocate to the state.
Aso Rock would later authorise military intervention.
