NAFDAC seizes three petrol tankers transporting edible oil in Lagos
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized three petrol tankers used to transport edible oil in Lagos State. The seizure took place around the Apapa area following a tip-off.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, the agency shared a video of an official explaining the operation. “A credible source informed us that the tankers used for transporting vegetable oil were also being used for petroleum products,” the official said.

The official emphasized that this poses a significant public health risk, prompting NAFDAC to act swiftly. “We immediately went to the area and caught the truck being loaded. This is why we apprehended them and brought the trucks in for further investigation.”
The investigation revealed that the vehicles were linked to Wharf 302 Products and Beverages.
The official warned of the dangers of using the same vehicle to transport both edible oil and petroleum products, which are carcinogenic and unsafe for consumption.
