Nigerians urge Davido, Wizkid to end long-running feud
Nigerians have called on Afrobeats stars Davido and Wizkid to resolve their long-running rivalry after a video showing Davido enjoying Wizkid’s hit song Ojuelegba at a wedding in Lagos went viral on social media.
The video, which circulated online over the weekend, captured Davido vibing to the popular song at the wedding ceremony of fellow singer Zlatan Ibile, prompting reactions from fans and social media users who expressed hope that the moment could signal a new chapter in the relationship between the two music stars.
The development has reignited conversations about the longstanding tension between the singers, whose perceived rivalry has played out over the years through social media exchanges, music comparisons and debates among their respective fan bases.
Wizkid’s supporters, popularly known as Wizkid FC, and Davido’s 30 Billion Gang, also known as 30BG, have frequently engaged in online arguments over the artistes’ musical achievements, popularity and influence on the Nigerian music industry.
However, Davido’s apparent enjoyment of Ojuelegba at the wedding has prompted some Nigerians to question whether the rivalry between the singers is as deep as their online exchanges suggest.

Reacting to the viral clip on X, several users appealed to both artistes to put their differences aside and collaborate, saying a reconciliation could give fans an opportunity to enjoy their music together.
A user, @Beejay_0822, wrote, “Make dem settle this beef abeg make dem give us better Gbedu abeg.”
Another user, @MustyFelix7, expressed a similar sentiment, writing, “I wish they settle their beef.”
For @Amadi96123697, the perceived hostility between the singers may have been exaggerated by their supporters.
“This men no really get issues na una wey be fans dey stress una selves,” the user wrote.
Some users also questioned whether the rivalry was genuine or had been amplified by social media attention.
A user identified as @13Kobrex wrote, “My mind dey tell me say their beef na script aswr.”
Meanwhile, @idarajune said a reconciliation would be welcome, recalling the mutual admiration the singers had shown for each other in the past.
“Really hope they resolve their issues and settle. The mutual admiration they had for each other was beautiful,” the user wrote.
Another user, @ShegunChelsea, urged the singers to reunite musically while they are still active in the industry.
“They are both getting old oo, I think they both need to come together for us to enjoy them together small before they retire from music. Let us all enjoy another side of them both musically and friendship,” the user wrote, tagging both artistes.
Similarly, @HuseinWiz, who identified with Wizkid’s fan base, called for an end to the hostility directed at Davido.
“be FC but I think there shouldn’t be hate on him anymore,” the user stated.
The reactions reflect continued public interest in the relationship between the two artistes, who have remained prominent figures in Nigeria’s Afrobeats scene and have attracted large followings at home and abroad.
Although their rivalry has often generated intense debate among fans, Davido’s decision to enjoy a song by Wizkid at a public gathering has provided an opportunity for supporters to renew calls for unity.
The viral video, however, does not in itself establish that the two singers have resolved their differences, and neither artiste was reported in the account to have announced a reconciliation.
For many fans, the hope remains that the singers will move beyond their perceived rivalry, foster mutual respect and possibly work together on music that could appeal to their combined audiences.
