The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of acclaimed filmmaker and director Dimbo Atiya, whose work helped shape some of Nollywood’s most celebrated television productions. The news of his passing was announced on Thursday by actor Mofe Duncan, who paid an emotional tribute to the late filmmaker on social media.

Duncan described Atiya as one of the entertainment industry’s brightest creative minds, expressing shock over the loss and remembering him for his passion, talent and dedication to storytelling. Atiya was widely respected for producing and directing hit television series including Halita and Sons of the Caliphate.
