Not for the money! Finally, the real reasons Casemiro joined Man Utd revealed
Manchester United had on Monday night before their 2-1 EPL victory over Liverpool presented Casemiro to the fans as their latest arrival at Old Trafford.
And many like former United goalie and now football pundit Ben Foster have claimed that the 30-year-old midfielder only decided to leave Real Madrid for Manchester United over money.
For Foster, the Brazilian never wanted to leave Real Madrid until he was made a promise of £300,000 a week and a four-year deal.
Meanwhile, Manchester United defender and former teammate to Casemiro at the Bernabeu, Raphael Varane, is rather of the opinion that the Brazilian has left Real Madrid to join him at Old Trafford because he needs a fresh challenge.
Varane who knows Casemiro well enough considering their time together at the Spanish capital has backed the Brazilian to succeed at Old Trafford while hailing him as a perfect addition to the squad.
National Daily recalls that both players were part of the Madrid team that won the Champions League four times between 2014 and 2018, before Varane joined United last summer.
“I know exactly what he feels and why he’s coming here after living in Madrid.
“He needs a new challenge, I know exactly what he feels, and I know exactly why he chose this club.
“It’s a similar process that I had so obviously wished him the best and I’m speaking with him a lot, but he didn’t need me to make his choice,” Varane said.
And again, Casemiro himself has been quick to refute the claims that he chose to dump Real Madrid for Manchester United because of the mega wages he is bound to receive from Old Trafford.
According to the Brazil international during his farewell press conference on Monday while reacting to the suggestion that his move was partly motivated by United’s offer to double his salary maintained that anyone who do not know can only think in such a manner.
“Leaving for money? People who say this clearly don’t know me. They’re wrong. If it was for money, I would have left four years ago,” the Brazilian said.
And speaking further, the new United acquisition revealed that he knew he would leave Real Madrid as soon as he won a fifth Champions League title last season.
Asked when he decided to leave, Casemiro told reporters: “I spoke to my agents after the Champions League final, I knew it was the end.
“When you make a big decision in your life, it’s always important. I felt my journey here was over. After the holidays I had the same feeling.
“Now I am joining the biggest club in England.”
