OAU final year student dies in road accident inside campus
Mr. Chisom Nwakwo, a final-year student of the Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Agricultural Economics, Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile Ife, Osun State, has died in a road accident within the campus of the institution.
The management of OAU announced this in a statement on Tuesday, but failed to explain the circumstances surrounding the accident that led to the death of Nwakwo.
The Public Relations Officer of the Institution, Mr Abiodun Olarewaju, confirmed that the Agricultural Economics student was involved in an accident on campus and unfortunately died.
He added that Nwankwo’s death is a colossal loss to the department, faculty and the entire University community.

According to him, the University Management was saddened about the incident and regrets announcing the passing away of their dear agriculturalist with hope of a brighter future.
“The management appealed to motorists and motorcyclists to be conscious of the traffic law and reduce speeding within and outside the campus.
“We cannot afford to be losing our students no matter their level, therefore we warn all and sundry against speeding and wrong overtaking that can claim the lives of students or staff.
“The management condoled with the family of the deceased and prayed that God would give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”. Olarewaju stated.
He charged private car and commercial bus drivers to reduce their speed on campus, and should adhere to speed limits and traffic signs within the University.
