Obiano assents to Anti-Open Grazing Bill, declares immediate implementation
Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State on Friday assented to the anti-open grazing.
Governor Obiano assenting to the “Cattle and Other Livestock Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Bill of Anambra State” at the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia, Awka, on Friday, said that the decision of the state government to outlaw the open grazing of cattle and other livestock was to enhance peace between the farmers and the herders in Anambra.
The governor noted that the management of the crisis between farmers and herders has been short-term measure, adding that t has become necessary for the government to take decisive action.
Governor Obiano ordered immediate enforcement of the law by the enforcement agencies.
Other states which include Rivers, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Enugu, Lagos, Osun, Akwa Ibom, etc., had earlier passed same law and had it assented to by the governors.
