Oyo NMA asks FG to intervene in Osun health sector crisis
THE Nigeria Medical Association, Oyo State chapter, has said there is a need for the intervention of parties outside the state and especially the Federal government in halting what it described as the “genocide of the people of Osun state” by the state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
In a solidarity press conference held at the NMA House, Ibadan on Friday, Dr. Muideen Olatunji, Chairman, NMA, Oyo state chapter, stressed that the entire South West caucus of the Association also condemn in strong terms the dastard acts of the Osun state government warning that the professional body will not hesitate to invoke all that is necessary within the ambit of the law to defend their colleagues in the state.
“There is need for intervention of parties outside the state and especially the federal government to halt the genocide of the people of Osun state by His Excellency, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola”

He said one of the reasons for the outcry is that “this adamant government has become totally unreachable and inaccessible by individuals who have sought to resolve these issues and are becoming weary by the attitude of the government.
Explaining the level of the crisis between the state government and medical doctors in the state, Olatunji said what many people do not know is that though the doctors in the state are a minute percentage of the work force, they have remained the only standing group to say no to the impunity of the governor and to the lies being peddled by the government in order to squander the state resources.
