PDP adopts digital membership enlistment, inaugurate E-Registration Committee
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has digitized the party’s membership registration across the country. To facilitate digital registration process, the opposition PDP on Wednesday inaugurated an e-registration Committee at the Party’s Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja. The 19-member committee is led by Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Chairman; Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, Deputy Chairman.
The PDP national Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, at the inauguration of the Committee, stated that the digital registration was adopted to have a proper data base in line with the fast changing technology age.
Prince Secondus maintained that the PDP, which is the only political party that has continued to exist in originality since formation, has retained its name since 1989, noting that the party has embraced digital technology since 2010.
He decried that at a time the world is going digital, President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are bent on denying Nigerians the opportunity to move with the changing times. Secondus was optimistic that the committee has the capacity to deliver on its mandate with an IT driven chairman, the Edo State Governor.
Secondus further urged President Buhari to unban the microblogging twitter, an action, he said, is stopping Nigerians from exercising their rights.
Secondus stated that the action of President Buhari denying the Youth and the production sector the freedom to engage with the rest of the world is unacceptable.
The PDP National Chairman advocated that Nigerians must rise and reject the dictatorial regime sabotaging efforts to carry out electoral reforms.
Secondus further demanded the President of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly, Ahmad Lawan, to eschew from confirming Laureta Onoche as a nominee for appointment as INEC commissioner, protesting that she is an APC card carrying member and Special Assistant to the President.
Governor Obaseki, Chairman of the committee, promised to come up with a product that will make the Party proud. The governor explained that the PDP is using digital technology to expand its membership base, assuring that nobody will be excluded in the process.
Obaseki promised that the committee would ensure the digital registration process is anchored on the brilliant young people of Nigeria that exists in the digital world taking advantage of the robust platform to do the needful.
