PDP relocates BoT meeting to Yar’Adua Centre after Police seal off Wadata plaza
Heavily armed police operatives were deployed to the party headquarters early in the day, preventing BoT members and staff from gaining entry
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday, June 30, 2025, relocated its Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting from the party’s national secretariat at Wadata Plaza to the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, following a security blockade by the Nigeria Police Force.
Heavily armed police operatives were deployed to the party headquarters early in the day, preventing BoT members and staff from gaining entry.
The reason for the police presence was not immediately disclosed, but it came amid internal wrangling within the party, particularly over the contentious issue of the national secretary’s office and the delay in convening the party’s landmark 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

The blockade reportedly disrupted the planned BoT gathering, forcing party elders to move their meeting to the Yar’Adua Centre, located in the Central Business District of the Federal Capital Territory.
The incident adds to the growing tension within Nigeria’s leading opposition party, which has in recent months struggled with internal divisions and leadership disputes.
Party officials have yet to issue an official statement regarding the police intervention or the next steps following the relocated BoT meeting.
