PDP’s Ighodalo slams Edo election as “worst in history” amid irregularities
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Edo State, Asue Ighodalo, has strongly criticized the conduct of the ongoing election, labeling it as potentially “the worst in Nigeria’s history” due to widespread irregularities.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, alongside Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and outgoing Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, Ighodalo cited multiple instances of electoral misconduct, particularly in Ikpoba/Okha Ologbo.
He pointed to anomalies in polling units where voter accreditation figures showed zero, yet results were announced. In one instance, the All Progressives Congress (APC) allegedly received 227 votes while the PDP garnered 103, despite no accredited voters.
One of the major infractions he cited involved polling units in Ikpoba/Okha Ologbo, where accredited voters were recorded as zero, yet results were announced.

“The way this election is going, it is set to be the worst election in the history of this country.
“In Ikpoba/Okha Ologbo, the figure for accredited voters was NIL, but the results claimed the APC had 227 votes, while the PDP had 103. How is that even possible?
“In another unit in Ikpoba/Okha Ologbo, the number of accredited voters was recorded as 156, but the APC was declared to have won 2,110 votes, while the PDP received just 57 votes, and no votes were recorded for the Labour Party,” Ighodalo stated.
In the released results, the APC is comfortably leading in 10 of the LGAs while the PDP won in six which could easily translate to a landslide victory for the APC and its candidate, Monday Okpebholo.
According to the confirmed results, the APC currently has a total of 244,549 votes while the PDP has polled 195,954 with the Labour Party having 13,348
The results for the remaining two LGAs will be announced when INEC resumes the collation process at 5pm.
