Premier League predictions: Arsenal-Liverpool draw, Man City to dominate Southampton
Former Arsenal star and football pundit Paul Merson has shared his predictions for the upcoming Premier League matches, setting the stage for a weekend of thrilling encounters across England.
Known for his sharp insights on match outcomes, Merson anticipates a challenging lineup for several top teams, with a highlight being the anticipated showdown between Arsenal and Liverpool at the Emirates.
On Friday, Leicester City kicks off the weekend, hosting Nottingham Forest, where Merson predicts a close 1-1 draw.
Saturday’s headliner features Manchester City taking on Southampton at the Etihad. Merson expects a dominant City performance, forecasting a decisive 4-0 victory for the defending champions.
Brighton & Hove Albion, he believes, will menage a 3-1 win over Wolves, while Aston Villa and Bournemouth may finish in a balanced 1-1 draw. Everton, struggling this season, might face a 2-1 loss to Fulham, while Brentford is tipped to secure a 2-0 victory against Ipswich Town.
A high-scoring clash is expected between Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur, with Merson predicting an action-packed 2-2 draw.

Sunday promises another lineup of high-stakes matches. Merson predicts Chelsea will beat Newcastle United 3-1 at Stamford Bridge, a result he believes could mark a significant morale boost for Chelsea as they seek stability in their season.
West Ham’s encounter with Manchester United is expected to end in a 2-2 draw, highlighting United’s inconsistency and West Ham’s resilience on home turf.
Lastly, Arsenal’s clash with Liverpool at the Emirates, a crucial test for both sides, is predicted to end in a 1-1 draw, as Arsenal faces Liverpool’s high-pressing game while seeking to maintain their form.
Football analyst Chris Sutton agrees that Merson’s predictions capture several key match dynamics, particularly Manchester City’s home advantage and the defensive challenges facing teams like Everton.
“City’s depth is unmatched, and with Southampton’s recent struggles, it’s fair to expect a big scoreline there,” Sutton remarked. On the Arsenal-Liverpool fixture, he noted, “Both sides have the firepower, but Arsenal’s defense will be tested. A draw is a fair call given the form of both teams.”
Fans and pundits alike are eagerly watching to see if Merson’s predictions come to pass, especially for marquee matches like Arsenal vs.
Liverpool and Manchester City’s potential blowout win. With the stakes high, each result could have significant implications for teams jostling for position in the Premier League standings.
