Presidency 2023: Gov Bala Mohammed visits Obasanjo in Abeokuta
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has continued to expand his consultations for the 2023 presidential election to former presidents and prominent Nigerians. Having earlier visited former President Goodluck Jonathan who assured him of support, Governor Mohammed took his consultation visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Governor Bala Mohammed seeking the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in the first instance, had a closed-door meeting with Dr. Obasanjo on Wednesday at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, where he sought the support of the former president.
Governor Mohammed after the closed-door meeting, disclosed that he was in Abeokuta on courtesy visit to the former president, who he said was instrumental to his career development in politics, and also to talk about his personal ambitions towards the 2023 general elections.
Governor Mohammed emphasized that access to leadership in Nigeria should be on merit to enable the country to bring everybody on board and have the best on the throne. It acknowledged that Nigeria is too large to be ignored by anyone.
The governor noted that the PDP is rebuilding to provide Nigerians the opportunity to rescue the country from the prevailing divisions in the country.
Governor Mohammed expressed optimism he will secure the presidential ticket of the PDP for the 2023 polls.
The response of former President Obasanjo was not made known before the departure of the Bauchi State Governor.
