Presidency 2023: Gov Umahi declares, challenges Tinubu for APC ticket
Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has declared for the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The Ebonyi governor declaring his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election on Tuesday, covertly challenged the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the contest for the APC presidential ticket.
Tinubu, former Governor of Lagos State, had on Monday visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja, to notify the President of his intention to contest the 2023 presidential election and the APC ticket.
Umahi, who had a consultation meeting with President Buhari at the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday, stated in a media interaction that his joining the presidential race will extend his performance in Ebonyi State to the federal government.
The Ebonyi governor disclosed that President Buhari encouraged him to mobilise the support of the people for the presidential race.
