Presidency 2023: Next president can emerge from any zone – Atiku
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Thursday expressed that the next president of Nigeria can emerge from any part of the country in 2023. He was of the view that where the president emerges from has never been the solution to the problems plaguing the country.
Atiku at the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the party’s Secretariat, Abuja, declared: “The PDP has the right to determine its rules on how the party should be governed.
“The people of Nigeria also have the right to determine who governs them.
“Where the president comes from has never been the problem of Nigeria, and I can cite examples; neither will it be the solution. There is no such thing as a president from Southern Nigeria or a president from Northern Nigeria.
“There is only one president from Nigeria, for Nigeria, by Nigerians.”
Atiku, however, urged the PDP highest decision-making body which endorsed the recommendations of the PDP Zoning Committee, to be fair and just in deciding where the party’s 2023 presidential candidate would come from.
