See Southeast delegates response after Tinubu invited them for a meeting
Former Lagos State governor and APC presidential aspirant, Bola Tinubu, had extended an invitation to delegates of the party from the South-East region, but unfortunately, the delegates turned down the invitation.
The delegates said that Tinubu has been touring different parts of the country to meet his supporters, but has not visited the South-East. According to the report by Peoples Gazette, Tinubu had summoned the delegates to Abuja on Saturday.
An APC delegate from the South-East who spoke to the newsmen on condition of anonymity said – “We have asked him what disdain he has for our region that makes it impossible for him to visit us. We won’t be going to Abuja because he isolated our region during his nationwide tour.”
Ahead of the APC presidential primaries, Tinubu has visited different parts of Nigeria like Adamawa, Kano, Delta, Kwara and Ondo to meet with his supporters, and there have been discussions on why he has not visited the South-East.
The APC presidential primary election will take place from June 6 to 8, and Tinubu is one of the leading contenders who has been tipped to win the ticket.
If Tinubu wins the ticket, he will be running against Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, and that will definitely be a tough battle.
What do you have to say about what this APC delegate said about Tinubu’s lack of visit to the South-East? Do you think it was proper for the delegates representing the South-East to turn down the invitation? Please feel free to share your thoughts with us.
